Recently finished Book One of Cold Iron Badge.

I liked it!

A fascinating and well-researched mixture of Police Procedural and various mythologies, mostly Norse. I'm proud to say I did pick up on some of the less obvious ones (reels, turning clothes inside outs, daoine sidhe) having read up on a good deal of it in university when I was writing my own small press comic Horizon Line.

My favourite brick joke in the book was Mysti Vale's t-shirt, which proclaimed "I brought pie!" Very clever.

A few technical things (none of which detracted from the story for me):

The early page seem to reveal the rough pencils under the inking, which vanish later, so I'm sure it wasn't a design choice.

Page 93, Panel 5, features a floating "I brought pie!" attached to no Mysti Vale.

Page 107, bottom panel, features and empty dialogue bubble attributed to McCall. I'm not sure if it's there for effect or not.

As I started the book, I decided to put on a playlist of fairy-related music, to get me in the right mindset. Here are sum selections from it, for your other readers:

My Fairy King - Queen
Ogre Battle - Queen
The Fairy-Feller's Master Strike - Queen
Nevermore - Queen
Lily Of The Valley - Queen
The Dance Of The Daonhe Sidhe - Tom Newman & Mike Oldfield
Mike's Reel - Mike Oldfield
Voyager (album) - Mike Oldfield
Fairy Tale (Op. 16) - Josef Suk
The Fairy Queen (Z.629) - Henry Purcell
The Celts - Enya
Marble Halls - Enya

Looking forward to Book Two!

You'll get to see the whole cast soon enough. But since you asked, I'll put Bunny up next. Cheers.

Thanks, BlackJackChelaque. I'd love to give you an exact answer, but the truth is I don't know. Stephen is finishing up another writing project at the moment and I don't know yet how much time I will have in September to draw. But rest assured, we are working on it and when we have a better idea we will let everyone know. In the meantime, I'll keep putting up concept art as it comes.
